La Tour Shiodome

Recently, we dropped by La Tour Shiodome, a brand-new 52 storey luxury condominium in Shimbashi, for a quick look, and have this to report.

Located in the newly-developed Shiodome bayside district, La Tour Shiodome is neighbor to an impressive number of business, cultural, and retail facilities, and within a short walk of several JR, subway, and monorail lines. La Tour residents can also enjoy the full benefits of 24 hour concierge services, a gym, day-care services, and an emergency medical clinic. The building even comes with its very own supermarket on the 2nd floor for the convenience of its residents.

Unlike previous residential high-rises which advertised “beautiful bayside views,” but which were a kilometer or two inland, La Tour Shiodome is very unique in the fact that it is truly just a stone’s throw away from the water. At 190 meters (624 feet), it is also a “true” high-rise. In fact, it is Japan’s tallest residential high-rise and ranks 46th in the world!

The interior finish of the rooms we saw were all tastefully done up in subdued hues of dark brown and taupe, with adequate attention being paid to detail and workmanship.
It must be said here however, that although the rooms were very sunny and bright, they all felt a bit small. The general consensus among us was that in terms of room size, La Tour Shiodome is definitely "wa."

The sweeping, unobstructed view of Tokyo Bay from the upper floors was absolutely breathtaking, and is without a doubt, the main charm-point of this building. The view was so good in fact, that we had our faces glued to the window like a bunch of excited school kids for a good 7 or 8 minutes!

If you’ve got less than two kids and are looking for a conveniently-located pad on the bay with a view you can remember for life, La Tour Shiodome may be just the place for you!
